If you want to lose weight rapidly while keeping your junk food buddies close to you, then calorie shifting dieting is ideal for you! With calorie shifting, you don’t need to keep eating the same types of foods day after day. You can lose weight by eating different foods on different days, and those foods could range from low-calorie to high-calorie foods. Now, if you are wondering how you could possibly lose weight with such a diet, read on to find out the answer!
To give you an idea of how quickly you can lose weight with the help of calorie shifting diet, let me tell you that you can shed as much as seven pounds every week; compare this with a low calorie diet with which you can lose no more than 2 pounds per week!
With calorie shifting method, you would be eating low calorie meals one day and have a high calorie diet on the very next day. Or if you want, you can even have a combination of low-calorie and high-calorie foods in your daily diet!
This way, your body is kept guessing your calorie intake level and as a result, it keeps the metabolic rate high at all times just to be on safe side. If on one day, you happen to have an unusually high-calorie intake, it would be difficult for your body to burn those high-calorie foods with a low metabolic rate, and the opposite is equally true!
Since your metabolic rate always remains at a high level, you are bound to lose weight very fast!
Obviously, the high calorie foods are usually junk foods, while the low calorie foods are natural fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, fishes, etc. With such a rich diet, you are very unlikely to become bored, ever!
The calorie shifting dieting approach also requires that you eat small meals at regular intervals. You simply need to break your present large-sized meals into five or six small-sized ones, and have each of these meals every two or three hours. Spacing out the meals this way would help keep your calorie intake at the desired level, thus ensuring that you get rid of the extra flab quickly and easily!
The calorie shifting dieting also recommends that you drink at least eight glasses of water per day!
In short, the calorie shifting dieting focuses more on the type and quality of the foods you eat and less on your daily calorie intake level! Think about it: if you consume a lot of burgers regularly, you will gain weight, and even if you eat only low-calorie salads of the same quantity, you are not going to keep the weight away permanently either! However, combine the two, along with a healthy dose of protein intake in the form of lean chicken meat and eggs, and you have got the perfect recipe for rapid weight loss!

People learn only from their peers, and this holds true for adults as well as kids. It is no secret that the level of childhood obesity in the world is rising alarmingly with every passing year. Even though parents always blame their kids’ unhealthy lifestyle habits as the root cause of obesity, the fact remains that if parents are willing, they can change those habits during the growing years of their children.
Take note that a stitch in time saves nine; if you nip these bad habits of your kids in the bud then they would always remain fit and healthy. If you are clueless about what to do in this direction, I will tell offer you two tips on that!
Make no mistake, even though now I am a fitness professional, I too was a big, fat ugly kid disliked by my class mates and neighbors alike! Just like your kids I too loved all the tasty and yummy junk foods my parents used to feed me.
My parents believed that I would cry less if they were to pamper me with delicious foods all the time; however this didn’t help at all as I cried even after all that ‘pampering’; if anything, I fell prey to unhealthy eating habits for which I had to pay dearly later on.
When I grew up a little, Mac Donalds became my regular destination and their burgers my all-time favorites! To top it all, my parents even took me to a doctor for they thought I was grossly underweight and malnourished, and oddly enough, that doctor only gave reassurance to my parents’ fears!
I don’t even need to tell you the end result of it all; soon I had a fatty belly and a pair of flabby arms which I detested very much (even though my parents seem to have no issues with them).
After keeping up with the taunts of my schoolmates for a while, I thought that enough was enough, and one day made up my mind that I would lose weight no matter what!
1. Encourage your kids to idolize professional athletes and bodybuilders: These days, kids usually idolize movie stars and prefer to sit on the couch the entire day and watch movies of their favorite idols. There is nothing wrong with hero worship at all, as long as it helps your kids stay fit and avoid weight gain. Idolizing movie heroes and heroines won’t be of any use to them; on the other hand, idolizing professional sportspersons, body builders and athletes would really help them stay active all the time. While it is true that I indulged in hula hopping because it was a very popular sport among our neighborhood kids, I played tennis mainly because famous tennis players such as Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick were my idols (they still are).
When kids consider athletes to be their heroes, they like to emulate their active lifestyle and have a have a healthy body like them. As a result, your kids would start eating healthy and indulging regularly in outdoor games!
2. Don’t stop your kids from participating in sports: So when I decided to lose weight, I started spending much more time in my favorite sports than I used to!! Thankfully, unlike the parents of some of my peers, my parents never prohibited me from indulging in outdoor sports.
Take a cue from this: if you are a parent and wish to keep your kids fit and healthy then keeping them from indulging in sports is just stupid! Far from making your kids sit at home and forcing them to stick their eyes on books throughout the whole day, you should actually encourage them to become active in life, since only active kids are able to keep the fat away for the rest of their lives!
Really, that is the only thing I did, apart from changing my unhealthy eating habits, in order to acquire the fit body that I still maintain! And you thought it was too hard to help your kids lose weight!

If you thought your kids have gotten their junk food eating habits from peers, you may not be wholly true! Habits start quite early in the life of a human, and if your kid is taught the benefits of healthy eating right from infancy, they are less likely to indulge in junk food eating out of peer pressure, if at all, than otherwise! A formula which works very well in this case is palate training.
Contrary to its name, this formula is quite simple and straightforward, in that it doesn’t require any expert knowledge on your part! It was invented by two members of the Good Food Village Trust, Louise Rutten and Mitzy Wilson! Palate training is all about training the tastebuds of your kids in such a way that they start loving natural and healthy foods much more than those yummy fast foods! So let’s get right on it as to how to start training the palates of your kids!
1. Let them appreciate natural foods: Your kids would eat organic foods only when they love them! From quite an early age, you should educate your children that beets or carrots don’t taste bad! Conventional preaching doesn’t work too well in case of kids for whom, seeing is believing.
So you could go a bit further, peel off a carrot and let your kid lick it with his tongue or chop it off and ask him to put a piece on one side of his mouth and keep it there for a few moments to enjoy the taste. Such small and gradual steps would make your kid addicted to carrots! In fact, you can use this formula for any food you want your kids to eat!
2. Don’t encourage bad habits at home: While it is true that you don’t have absolute control over what your kid eats when he is out of home, you could still control his eating habits in a number of methods.
For example, when he goes to school, pack his lunch box with healthy fruits and vegetables. If your kid doesn’t eat it at school, make him eat the same at home. It is still possible that your kid may have a bite of pizza or hamburger at school or a sip of soft drink at a friend’s party! However, they won’t get addicted to them if you don’t allow those foods at home, since a kid needs to eat a particular food at least 14-15 for him to get addicted to it!
3. Walk the talk: It is easy to preach the benefits of healthy eating to your kids but do YOU follow your own advice? Remember that kids have a tendency to emulate the adults, particularly their parents, and if they catch you enjoying a packet of chips on a lazy Saturday evening, why would they be contented with a carrot or cabbage? If you wish to inculcate good eating habits in your kids, you need to adopt them yourself first!

The phrase “going bananas” has a surprising history, more so because its meaning has been totally reversed now. The phrase came into being because of the cooling and relaxing effect of the banana on the brain. But in this age, “going bananas” is used for the condition of going nuts or going mad. Surprising isn’t it?
The health advantages of bananas are numerous. Many popular dishes can be prepared using bananas like banana split, banana shake and banana pie. Banana is made up of three natural sugars like glucose, fructose and sucrose which is why banana boosts the energy level of the body. Athletes eat bananas to stay energized for longer time spans and for superior performance. Recent studies show that eating banana can keep the body fully keyed up for a 90 minute workout.
Banana is also useful for anemic patients because of its high zinc and iron content. It aids in the production of hemoglobin and also controls the blood pressure. It is rich in potassium with low amounts of salt which makes it an ideal fruit for patients suffering high blood pressure. It also keeps the heart healthy and clean and prevents the risk of cardiac arrests and stroke.
Bananas are rich in tryptophan which has the ability to control depression, relieving stress and stabilizing moods. It is a very beneficial fruit for students as it helps to increase the level of concentration, keeps the mind focused, and increases brain power.
The nervous system also benefits from the advantages of banana. It soothes the nervous system with its B vitamins. It is a fiber rich fruit which makes it ideal for sufferers of constipation. Pregnant women should also derive benefits from it as it can alleviate morning sickness and stomach disorders.
It is a common belief that bananas increase weight gain due to their high sugar content. But scientists have proven this misconception wrong by establishing the fact that bananas can actually assist in losing weight as they can control food yearnings. This tropical fruit has a very relaxing effect on the body.
Banana is very beneficial for those people who are resisting the urges to smoke and drink alcohol as the magnesium in it can help alleviate the negative consequences of tobacco withdrawal. Bananas are helpful in treating ulcers as they are assimilated quickly. Even the inside of the banana peel has many uses. It acts as a perfect shoe shine and can cure the swelling of mosquito bites.
Bananas are an excellent source of promoting sound health. There are various ways in which you can include them in your diet to make them tastier. You can make a banana smoothie or eat it with peanut butter instead of jam. Bananas can also be used in desserts. Banana yoghurt can also be prepared by using mashed bananas. Thus including bananas in your diet not only promotes wellness but also keeps you happy, relaxed and fully energized. Eating it in breakfast is a wise way to derive its maximum advantage. So start today and build up your strength for tomorrow.

Fundamental plays are the most basic moves that coaches use to build up their play book. A coach will take a fundamental play and add his or her own twist, or slightly change the play, to make it his own. In some cases, the play works out in the traditional sense so well that no change is needed.
One of the top fundamental plays in basketball is the cut through. This play is very popular and something you have probably done or seen on the court before. It is an important play for moving the players and the ball across the court to get into the ideal position by the basket.
The Basics of the Play
The cut through involves cutting a player across to the other side of the court. Cutting means basically going through the opposing team to the other side in a quick, sharp movement.
This play is used to attack the defense zone. It can really help to break up defense that is heavy or otherwise blocking the play.
Cutting helps to create a screen or open area where the defense is held off and the player can pass or shoot the ball. The cut through play opens up a wide screen that allows for good play.
Tips for the Cut Through Play
When performing the cut through play it is important that players remember the two step rule still applies. It can be easy for the player with the ball to forget this.
When cutting, the cutter and the screener should pass shoulder to shoulder with the screener opening up toward the ball. This play is best used when passing is blocked or the defensive blocking is really strong.
There are some different options coaches often use during this play. They involve different players depending on the action on the court. It is a play where the result is really dictated by what is happening now, and not a play that is planned out in advance.
The cut through play is a fundamental play because every team will encounter a time in the game when the defense is really on their game, making passing and even moving the ball difficult. This play allows for the court to be opened up and gives the player with the ball more options as to what to do.
It is a great saving grace type play that a coach can call in a last minute effort to beat the clock and get the ball to the basket. The cut through play is most likely to be found in every coach’s play book and something that every coach will use at one point or another.
This is why it is a fundamental play, because it is a reliable play that works. The cut through play is something that players are often taught when taught the fundamentals of basketball. Most coaches will run this play with their team on a regular basis just to ensure it is something they know well and will be able to pull off when needed on the court.

Before you try to lose weight, you need to know why you gained weight in the first place! Unless you are suffering from certain complex medical conditions which could make a person overweight as a side effect, I am sure you have gained weight as a result of consuming excessive amount of calories.
Your body requires a certain amount of calories daily, and if you feed it more than it needs, what would it do? Since energy (calorie) cannot be destroyed, it would deposit the excess calories as fat so that they could be used for future energy production, and you gain weight as a result!
It is therefore quite obvious that you are not going to get rid of your fat belly unless you learn to control your calorie intake. There are a few ways to achieve this end and one popular way is by concentrating on a “low-calorie” diet.
A low calorie diet focuses on foods which are extremely low on calories. Unlike fast foods, these foods offer your body the maximum possible nutrition with the least amount of calories! This results in a calorie deficit and your body is forced to burn your existing fat deposits in order to neutralize this deficit, with the result that you start losing weight!
Truth is, it takes your brain at least twenty minutes to realize that you are full and don’t need to eat anymore! These twenty minutes are very crucial. If you had eaten junk foods, you would have consumed a lot of calories before your brain could realize that enough was enough. This is because junk foods usually lack in fiber content.
In sharp contrast, low calorie foods, being rich in fiber, fill up your stomach quicker with the least amount of foods possible. Even if you eat a little more than needed during this twenty-minute window, you won’t be gaining weight because your overall calorie intake would still be low.
There are many different types of low calorie diet programs. Some would try to restrict your calorie intake by making you eat like a baby, but that is not a healthy weight loss technique. If you follow the low calorie diet method I am going to suggest you, you could afford to lose weight even by eating like a demon! Foods which are low on calorie and high on nutrition are usually natural, organic foods and vegetables. You should always consume them both in steamed or boiled form and NEVER in fried form! Whole grain, fish oils, etc., are other good foods for fast weight loss!
So next time you decide to diet, recall “low-calorie” diet!

Calorie here, calorie there! Every time we try to lose weight, we are asked to monitor our calorie intake. Now what the heck is this calorie? Well, the truth is, each of the foods and drinks we consume contain a certain quantity of calories. Once food enters our body, those calories are transformed into energy! In turn our body uses this energy to perform its day-to-day operations.
Now our body needs a certain minimum level of energy to be able to function properly. If the current energy level is below this minimum requirement, we would suffer from fatigue, weakness, and a host of other maladies. On the other hand, if our body receives more energy than required, it would deposit the extra energy as fat for future use.
As you can see, if you want to get rid of fat, you need to control your body’s energy production, which can be done only by reducing your daily calorie intake level! One way to do that is by controlling your food intake by dieting. Dieting of course means eating balanced, healthy meals rather than fasting. Another way to keep the energy levels at normal level is by burning the excess calories with the help of workouts.
Something else you have to be familiar with is your body’s metabolic rate. Our body burns the calories at a certain speed, and this speed is determined by our metabolic rate. The higher our metabolic rate is, the faster our body would shed the fat. People with a high metabolic rate generally find it easier to maintain their slim body than others.
If you realize that some of your friends are able to keep the pounds away despite eating burgers and chips everyday, there is nothing to wonder about it; it simply means that they are blessed with a high metabolic rate. I am sure that now it makes sense if I tell you that the way to lose weight is by boosting your metabolic rate!
Some people say that it is not possible to boost your metabolic rate artificially. Nothing could be further from the truth! If you want to fire up your metabolism in order to burn fat at a faster speed, here are three methods to do that.
1. Eat spices and lots of spices: Someone has told you that consuming too many spices is bad for your health, so much so that you have virtually stopped consuming them! If this is you then keep in mind that such a measure isn’t going to help you lose weight anyway!
The fact remains that spices, especially chilies, garlic, etc., are good metabolism boosters and that why you should have more of them in every meal you consume! Of course you should use as little oil as possible while cooking and try to stick to olive or canola oil since they are low on fat.
2. Eat small and often: Another food habit you need to develop is that of eating often in small quantities. Now, you might say that you are too short on time to afford frequent eating. Trust me, each one of us gets no more than 24 hours from a day, and if you want to acquire and maintain a slim body like your friend, you have to eat small because it is one of the best and easiest ways to control your body’s energy production level.
If your body doesn’t receive excess food at any time, there is no question of it ever depositing unwanted calories as fat!
3. Be active: Your friend might have been able to maintain a slim body even by leading a sedentary and easy life, but perhaps you are not so lucky, which is why you ended up with a fat belly by following that same lifestyle. Hence, if you wish to get rid of your fat belly and flabby arms, leading an active lifestyle is a MUST!
Besides controlling your food intake, working out either in the gym or at home would boost your metabolic rate manifold, thereby ridding you of this annoying fat belly in no time. Do you know that workouts help you build lean muscles, and that muscles burn more calories than fat? Researchers have claimed that for every pound of muscle you gain, your body burns 50 more calories than it does for an equivalent amount of fat!

Media and advertising would suggest that the best way to cure skin problems like acne is to start by fixing oily skin. That is a common misconception, and there are more effective skin treatments available.
It is commonly thought that acne is caused by oily skin. Some acne treatments or skin care treatments say that they will cure your oily skin as well as your acne. The truth is that oily skin does not cause acne and proper skin care treatments will not take away all of your naturals oils. Drying out the skin is not the answer to acne and it can actually cause other skin problems. There are more effective treatments for acne than to simply strip away the oil from your skin; read the following and you will be closer to being rid of your acne.
Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide can help with the milder cases of acne. It is sold over the counter at the grocery or drug store and will help to clean out your pores and reduce acne. One thing that you should not do is squeeze the acne in an effort to get rid of it. This will make your skin worse and wont help the problem. Give the medication a chance to work over time and you will preserve your skin and avoid acne scarring as well.
Alpha Hydroxy Acid for Removing Dead Skin Cells
Medications that use retinol can help to get rid of acne-causing bacteria. If you stop the spread of these bacteria it is much easier to treat the acne. Retinol will leave your skin dryer and take away the blockages that cause many skin problems.
Acne and AHAs
Acne preventing medications that use Alpha Hydroxy Acids or AHAs are effective because they take away skin cells that have died. This is an effective measure in the prevention of acne in the first place. Stopping acne before it has a chance to spread might be the best way to maintain healthy skin.
This is intended to be information only for your personal use. You should seek the consultation of your doctor or a dermatologist if you have acne problems. Talk to your medical professional before beginning any treatment for skin problems. We assume no liability for information contained in this article.

Just like obesity, diabetes is also fast becoming a threatening disease with every passing year. And as strange as it might sound, you could actually get rid of both of them by using the same method! Obesity is caused by an excessive amount of calorie consumption, and the same holds true for diabetes as well!
In fact several recent studies have showed that diabetes is closely linked with obesity. Now if you want to get rid of both your fat belly as well as those dreaded insulin injections, monitoring your daily calorie intake is the only way to kill the two birds with one stone!
Since most junk foods are high on calorie and sugar content, they tend to increase your blood sugar level apart from making you overweight! The recommended way to control your calorie intake is by counting your daily calorie consumption level using a calorie counter. So let’s see how a calorie counter could offer you fast weight loss!
A calorie counter, as its name suggests, helps you count calories. But in reality, it does more than just that. Most decent calorie counters come in-built with a large database of food items along with stats about their respective calorie contents! This database would help you choose which foods are low on calorie and which aren’t.
A calorie counter also acts as a food journal by monitoring your diet and activity level, thereby helping you stay on track! With its help, you would be able to decide whether the diet you are following or the level of your current daily activity is good enough for weight loss. Diabetes patients can too benefit from a calorie counter since it also offers stats about their blood sugar and insulin levels.
With the assistance of a calorie counter, keeping track of your weight loss progress and staying on track becomes easier. You can use it to set your own weight loss goals as well as check how much progress you have made and how much more is left to be done in order to reach your goal.
A good calorie counter can store up to a year’s information in it, and since it is just a small electronic device, you can easily carry it in your pocket anywhere you want, be it to your office or the neighboring fast food restaurant!
Of course, using a calorie counter won’t ensure that you would lose weight fast or keep your blood sugar levels under control. In order to derive the maximum benefit from it, you should also use your commonsense while planning your diet.
1. Try to include as many fruits and vegetables as you can in your meals; fact is you should eat them even at snacking hours! Don’t forget to include whole grains and soy too!
2. Try to focus on low-fat foods, since fatty foods are harmful for the health of your heart.
3. Try to keep away from artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners. while being low on sugar, come with other side effects, One common side effect you could suffer from is bloating and acidity.
If you wish to live a healthy and long life, it is best to forget about sugar or at least try to keep your sugar cravings under control!

The concept of losing weight by consuming negative calorie foods might stump you, but trust me, it is not as complicated as you think! As a matter of fact, with any food your body needs to expend its stored energy to digest it before it can give back some energy to the body! Compared to ordinary foods, the so-called ‘negative calorie foods’ consume more energy from your body to digest themselves than what they supply to the body.
Hence, a calorie deficit occurs which in turn forces your body to burn your existing fat deposits so as to make up for this deficit, thereby helping you lose weight! It is really a simple concept, but the tough part is identifying the negative calorie foods.
Fortunately, you won’t have to import negative calorie foods from Mars; in fact, you may already be eating negative calorie foods without being aware of it. In order to help you choose the best negative calorie foods for fast weight loss, I would offer you a free list of the negative calorie foods I highly recommend to all my clients.
1. The A-List: Those good old red apples maybe high on calorie, but they won’t make you fat as long as you consume them in moderate quantities. You would notice that regular apple consumption is recommended by doctors and nutritionists alike, and there is a benefit behind it!
Other foods in this category are asparagus and apricots. For your information, apricots taste great when eaten together with cereals; as a matter of fact, I consume them both for my daily breakfast!
2. The B-List:
My lunch is hardly complete without a can of blackberries. Blackberries are rich in antioxidants as well as fiber. Don’t forget beets too; they are not only rich in fiber but also Vitamin A. Thus, beets are extremely good for your eyesight! Broccoli is yet another of my favorite foods; I usually have steamed broccoli for dinner, but you can have it whenever way you wish!
Though relatively unknown, buffalo fish is yet another negative calorie food that I highly recommend!
3. The C-List: Whenever I have beets, I also make sure to include carrots in it. You would notice that eating either beets or carrots alone could be a bit boring, but combine the two and the result is fabulous! Beets and carrots are ideal mates for each other; you can have them either in raw or steamed form.
Crabs are eaten by many people but not many are aware of the fact it is also a negative calorie food! You can also add cabbage and cauliflowers to this list!
I could go on and on as there are many more negative calories foods than what I have mentioned here, but if I want to keep this article from turning into a boring novel, I need to stop right now. If you require more food suggestions, they are already available online for free!
