Some Facts About Intercourse Addiction
Sunday, January 9th, 2011Intercourse addiction is characterized by an uncontrollable need to engage in promiscuous activity. Although every person has a certain level of intercourse drive, there are those who have an unusually intense obsession with pleasure. Besides the unusual intensity of cravings, the person often disregards proper behavior to obtain release. The pleasure may be one of the main factors that contribute but there are some more things anybody should know about this disorder.
Origins of Addiction
Just like any kind of addiction, conditioning is a big part of the process. If a person was exposed to sensual activity early, he is likely to develop an addiction to it. Some victims find themselves looking for the same release that intercourse afforded even after recovery. But sensual molestation may have the opposite effect. Some victims tend to hate intercourse. Promiscuity during the teenage years may also lead to intercourse addiction. As opposed to sensual molestation, sensual urge tends to build in promiscuous adolescents until a level of obsession is reached. It is important for a person to stop sex addictions.
Some intercourse addicts don’t act on their urges with others. Viewing pornography becomes the venue for release. Sensual addiction may also translate to pornography addiction if the person has no other way to release. Fantasizing about other people and thinking of situations in which sensual activity may happen are also venues for release. A intercourse addict needs a porn fix every now and then.
Indicators
Not being able to think of anything else except the next intercourse session may be an indicator of addiction. Some intercourse addicts cannot go for days without intercourse. An addict will not be able to bear having to abstain for a long time. If they cannot release, they spend a lot of time poring over explicit photos.
The emotional side of intercourse does not matter to intercourse addicts. Because of this, they are seldom picky when it comes to intercourse partners. They frequently ask for intercourse from their partner, whether the timing is right or not. Although these people often cheat, they don’t see this as cheating, but a release.
Desire Over Reason
Addicts will come up with any excuse to have intercourse. In case their behavior gets found out and they are subjected to therapy or get berated, they tend to make excuses.
